Where did Crosstown come from?
Crosstown is a Community Center built BY the community FOR the community. Crosstown is a place where residents of our city can participate in a wide range of activities that encourage artistic expression, childhood development, youth mentoring, spiritual dialogue and appreciation of diversity in our community.
What does Crosstown Do?
Crosstown Community Center utilizes an approach called Asset Based Community Development. This process of community building is based on a philosophy that positive change in a neighborhood happens best when we discover resources already present in the community rather than looking to outside sources or experts. Everything we do at Crosstown is oriented towards facilitating the people of Alameda to build and strengthen their community.
